India is unique as it is the youngest country in the world. This young population can
prove to be a huge demographic dividend if they are mentored and educated in a
way that they can constructively utilize their inherent talents. The potential of urban
and rural youth needs to be channelized to create a new batch of leaders who will
serve the public, private or the social sector. With this vision Yuvak Biradari (Bharat)
often organises youth leadership development programmes in different parts of rural
and urban India catering to youth across various socio-economic backgrounds.
Since the first Shiksha Shivir held at Lonavala (Karla Holiday Camp) in May 1974,
Yuvak Biradari has been organising Rashtriya Sneha Chaavni (National Youth
Camps) every year during summer/winter vacations for the development of the
youth. It is aimed at channelizing the potential of the youth towards a constructive
movement that will lead to their personal and societal transformation. The camp is an
opportunity for rural and urban youth to develop leadership qualities and to sail
unhindered towards the heights of success in their careers.
These camps are held every year at various places in India, wherein students and
youth representatives from all over the country participate and enrich their
experiences. The camp experience makes the participants socially cohesive and
sensitive to each other’s concerns. Participants go through a number of seminars
and experiential activities on various subjects relevant to their daily life, like self-
employment, career guidance, leadership, innovation, ethics as well as on important
issues like national integration, environment protection, universal brotherhood,
peace, national duties and social responsibilities etc. Art appreciation, yoga, fitness
are also part of the workshop module. These youth representatives coming from
different cities, towns and far-off villages of India are, later on, trained to conduct
similar workshops on relatively smaller scale at their native places to extend similar
benefits to other people.
Till date more than 20000 youth and students have participated and benefited from
numerous such camps organized at various places in India.
